Could you be part of the team inspiring Macmillan colleagues to move mountains?
We expect a lot from each other at Macmillan. Bottom line: we need to be always ready, sleeves rolled up, to do whatever it takes.
We know that conversations with cancer voices help new colleagues feel even more inspired, motivated, and determined to deliver great results.
“Listening to each of the cancer voices was incredible. It made me feel even more motivated to succeed and do my job well for Macmillan.” Quote from a new staff member after they took part.
Who we are looking for: People living with cancer, including caregivers, family members and friends, who can spend an hour with colleagues who are new to Macmillan, talking with other cancer voices about the realities of living with cancer - what helps, what doesn’t, and how you would like our people to reflect that in their work.
These conversations take place once a month, over MS Teams. They usually happen at 11am on the last Wednesday or Thursday of the month.
Skills and experience needed: Feeling able and willing to talk about your cancer experience is the most important thing. You will need to be able to join a meeting using MS Teams and we can support you to do that.
How we will support you to take part: You can meet and talk with other cancer voices who have already been welcoming new staff at Macmillan, and ask them how it went and what to expect; you can also join a session and observe to see if it feels the right thing for you. You will have dedicated support from Macmillan colleagues before and after each session. We can give you information about how to use MS Teams, and have practice sessions with you if needed.
How to apply: If you are interested in welcoming and inspiring new Macmillan staff and would like to take part in future induction sessions, apply here! A member of the Lived Experience Team will be in touch with you shortly.
