The information role is to listen and talk to people affected by cancer and identify what information they require.
Typical activities include:
Sitting with visitors to the centre and asking them about their reasons for visiting
Based on their answers, either refer them to see the Centre Manager or assist them to find out the information they need
Under the direction of the Centre Manager, show visitors relevant websites and print off information
Provide support to visitors who become upset by finding a private space and sitting with them
Asking visitors to complete a short satisfaction survey

What else should I know?
We will reimburse agreed expenses, so you are not out-of-pocket as a result of volunteering. As you will be carrying out a regulated activity, this role requires an enhanced DBS check (police check).

Induction and training is provided in order for you to carry out the role effectively and ongoing support from Macmillan staff and individual and group volunteer support sessions.
