We have so many clients who live alone and are in treatment for cancer who would just love to have a friendly face visit them.
What does the role involve? The role of Home Support Volunteer is to provide practical and emotional support for someone undergoing cancer treatment for up to 12 weeks. This will include shopping, companionship and/or light domestic tasks. No personal care is involved in this role.
Location: You will visit someone in their own home or at times, accompany them to hospital appointments. You will be supported by your Co-ordinator throughout the 12 weeks that you visit your client.
Time commitment: We know volunteers are busy people, so you set your own time, but we ask for a minimum of 2 hours per week from this you can change a client's life for the better.
You will have a person-centered support plan drawn up by Co-ordinator. This support plan will detail such areas as hoovering, shopping, laundry, carer support, companionship etc.
What training is provided? You will receive a full Induction, ongoing training, regular Volunteer Team meetings, and great satisfaction in knowing that you have supported a client during challenging times.
Skills & Experience required: Qualities we ask for you are empathy, kindness, common sense, good communicator, organisational skills.
Additional information: Full DBS check /ongoing travel expenses renumerated.
This role is great if you are a driver, but fine if you are not, we value your compassion, kindness, and good common sense.
