As a Cancer Champion, you will play a vital role in empowering your community by raising cancer awareness, promoting early detection, and supporting individuals affected by cancer. This includes attending local events, educating people about cancer signs and prevention, encouraging cancer screening, and assisting with booking appointments.

Location: The role is based in Bristol. You will attend events and activities in this area.

Time Commitment: Volunteers are encouraged to dedicate flexible hours depending on the events and campaigns happening in their community. Typically, participation is needed during local awareness events, which may occur on weekends or weekdays.

Volunteer Activities:

  • Attending local cancer awareness events.
  • Educating others on the signs and prevention of cancer.
  • Promoting cancer screening for early detection.
  • Supporting individuals in booking medical appointments and providing further guidance.

Training & Induction: All volunteers will receive comprehensive training before starting, including education on cancer awareness, communication skills, and how to effectively promote screening and prevention.

Volunteer Requirements: We are looking for individuals with good communication skills, an ability to work well in a team, and a passion for community service. No previous experience is necessary as full training will be provided.

Additional Information:

  • Volunteers do not need to undergo any DBS checks for this role.
  • Reasonable expenses, such as travel costs, may be reimbursed where applicable.
