Opportunity image

The Great North Run is one of the most famous races in the world with over 60,000 participants each year this race sees professionals and amateurs take on the track as they race through the northern gem that is Newcastle. With over 1000 runners Macmillan needs to make sure every single one of them feels our immense appreciation. Join one of our cheerpoints across the city and help motivate our runners to complete their challenge.

What will you be doing?

Cheerpoint

Join a friendly group of volunteers to encourage our runners to the finish line.

We will provide everything you need to make some noise and paint the path green (Macmillan tabards, cowbells, clappers, pom poms etc.)

Can’t do one of our shift times but would still like to volunteer, get in touch and we can help!

Your impact

£600,000 raised by 1300 runners in 2025. This can help run the Newcastle Macmillan Information Centre for a year! "The events team made me feel very welcome and supported throughout the day. I loved it!" - London Marathon Cheerpoint
