Event Support Volunteer (Great South Run - 19 October 2025)

The vibrant city of Portsmouth plays host to this exceedingly popular run. It offers a 10 mile and a 5k option, making it appealing to runners of all levels including our wonderful supporters. Our small, friendly cheerpoint right by the seafront pier is the perfect opportunity to give the gift of time to Macmillan and help our runners complete their amazing fundraising challenge.

What will you be doing?

Cheerpoint

  • Join a friendly group of volunteers to encourage our runners to the finish line.
  • We will provide everything you need to make some noise and paint the path green (Macmillan tabards, cowbells, clappers, pom poms etc.)
  • Can’t do one of our shift times but would still like to volunteer, get in touch and we can help!

Your impact

  • £50,000 projected to be raised in 2025.
  • This could pay for the development and a 12-month licence for a custom, scenario based learning module for health care professionals to provide the best care for cancer patients. AI is used to create real conversations via scenarios, putting the learner in a safe environment to practice and receive immediate feedback.

Then we would love you to join us as an Event Support Volunteer and be a part of an amazing team on the day, and if you love the experience you might be inspired to join the team at other events in the future.

By sharing your skills and time, you’ll have a rewarding and fun experience, helping us to deliver an excellent experience for event participants and meet new people as part of a friendly team that makes a difference in the community. Together, we can be right there for people with cancer.
